Get Ready for an Explosive Event: The International Fireworks Championship in Las Vegas
Pyrotechnics fans, mark your calendars! Blast Events, a renowned pyrotechnics company with deep expertise in the industry, is set to unveil its inaugural International Fireworks Championship in the vibrant heart of Las Vegas. This spectacular event will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on February 21, promising a night of dazzling displays that will light up the Strip like never before.
The Competitors
This year, teams from four different nations— the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany—will showcase their awe-inspiring artistry in fireworks design. Each team will take center stage for a 12- to 15-minute performance, designed to capture the imagination and thrill of the audience. What makes this championship even more thrilling is the diverse lineup of participants, each a champion in their own right.
The participants include:
- Timo Luttmann and Daniel Schaffler from ToF Feuerwerk, Germany. They made history by winning the first International Fireworks Championship in Traverse City, Michigan, in 2023.
- Kentaro Saito from Hibikiya Omagari Hanabi, Japan. A fifth-generation pyrotechnician, Saito brings 28 years of experience to the competition.
- Iain Keightley of Selstar Fireworks, U.K. He has an impressive resume, having been involved in international celebrations like Bonfire Night and the Cannes International Fireworks Competition.
- Tyler Wiesmann and Joe Rozzi from Rozzi Famous Fireworks, U.S., round out this prestigious group of competitors.
The Judging Process
Three expert judges will meticulously evaluate each performance based on design, choreography, and technical execution. While there’s no monetary prize for the winning team, they will receive a coveted trophy and the ultimate bragging rights in the world of fireworks. Additionally, audience members will have the unique opportunity to participate in the judging process by casting their votes for the People’s Choice Award through a simple QR code scan.
A Sensory Spectacle
Bruce Tyree, founder and CEO of Blast Events, promises that this championship will deliver a pyrotechnic experience unlike any other. "This International Fireworks Championship won’t be like any fireworks you’ve seen before—even in Las Vegas," he states. With displays choreographed to synchronized music and explosions designed to be more intense and closer to the audience, attendees are in for a full-on sensory experience that combines sound, color, and choreography in an unforgettable way.
A Special Daytime Event
In addition to the evening fireworks competitions, guests can witness a unique attempt at a world record for the largest aerial mascleta during the daytime. Co-founder and creative director of Ricasa Fireworks, Ricardo Caballer, will lead this extraordinary display that emphasizes rhythmic bursts of sound and smoke. A mascleta is known for its loud concussions and typically culminates in a thunderous finale, making it an exciting spectacle that stands apart from traditional fireworks displays.
